Piargy movie dominated Slnko v sieti awards

The movie Piargy won 11 awards at the Slnko v sieti awards for 2022 recognizing filmmaking accomplishments in Slovakia. The film Obeta won the Best Feature Film title and its director Michal Blaško also won in the Best Film Direction category with a movie reflecting the situation of Ukrainian immigrants in Czech republic. The Piargy movie is based on the novel by Slovak writer František Švantner looking into the topic of classes and patriarchal society in a Slovak village.

Piargy directed by Ivo Trajkov won the National Film Award for Best Screenplay (Jana Skořepová, Ivo Trajkov), Best Cinematography (Peter Bencsík), Best Editing (Michal Reich), Best Sound (Juraj Baláž, Ivo Heger), Best Visual Effects (Jaromír Pesr, Michal Plicka), and Best Costumes and Masks, both of which went to Anita Hroššová, and Best Architect - Set Designer (Tomáš Berka).

The best female performance in a leading role was given by Judit Pecháček Bárdos - she won the Slnko v sieti for her portrayal of Juliša in the film Piargy. The Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role was given by Jana Kvantiková as Johanka in this film.

Attila Mokos won the Slnko v sieti twice: he won the Best Male Actor in a Leading Role category for his performance as Ján Roháč in Piargy and the Best Male Actor in a Supporting Role award for his performance as Lučán Ármin Wámbéry in Čierne na bielom koni..

The award for Best Film Music went to Pjoni and Rob for Svetlonoc. The best documentary film is Dezo Hoffmann - Beatles photographer by director Patrik Lančarič and producer Patrik Pašš.
