There was an increase in hate speeches by Slovak politicians against LGBTI+ people and journalists. Amnesty International Slovensko (AIS) noted in its 2022 Report on Human Rights in Slovakia. "Since the murders at the Teplaren bar, Slovakia hasn't approved any measures or policies to ensure compliance with LGBTI+ people's human rights, but on the contrary - we're witnessing speeches by some politicians that demonise the LGBTI+ community even more intensely," underlined AIS director Rado Sloboda. In 2022, Slovakia took no measures to legalise partnerships of same-sex couples. "A legislative proposal that would introduce only a few partial improvements in the lives of same-sex couples, even as inadequate as it was, received support from only 50 lawmakers," pointed out Sloboda. He added that there was a continuing stigmatisation and dehumanisation of LGBTI+ people by some Slovak state officials.
