The Government will hold an away-from-home session in the town of Banska Stiavnica (Banska Bystrica region) on Wednesday (April 5), TASR has learnt from the Government Office's press department. The session will start at 11 a.m. in the Cultural Centre in Banska Stiavnica. The Cabinet should address the situation following the fire in Stiavnica's old town centre, which broke out in one of the historical buildings on Saturday (March 18) morning. The fire gradually spread, damaging seven buildings.
Interim Premier Eduard Heger met Banska Stiavnica mayor Nadezda Babiakova before the start of the meeting. The two of them checked the current state of buildings affected. Heger visited the site of the fire on March 18 as well. He said at the time that the Government would do its utmost to restore the damaged buildings to their original condition. "This is a jewel of our cultural heritage, plenty of tourists come here. We want this town to be able to continue to benefit from this," he said.
