Several members of the tripartite didn't agree with the Environment Ministry-sponsored Climate Change bill and draft law on integrated pollution prevention, interim Labour Minister Milan Krajniak (Sme rodina) reported following the tripartite session on Monday. Krajniak explained that the social partners didn't recommend the two aforementioned bills for further legislative proceedings and asked the Environment Ministry to quantify the impacts of the bills on the business environment. "I don't want to make it sound like the Labour Ministry is at loggerheads with the employers' unions over the Climate Change bill. If the standards stemming from the bill drive up costs for the business sector, then there will be increased costs for those people who buy products and services from the business sector. For example, if the Climate Change bill standards are passed, housing will become significantly more expensive in 2030. And that will be a problem for the Labour Ministry then," Krajniak remarked.
