Slovakia and Ukraine discuss joint ammunition production

Slovakia and Ukraine are considering the possible launch of a joint venture for the production of ammunition in Slovakia, said Slovak Interim Interior Minister Jaroslav Naď after meeting his Ukrainian counterpart Olexiy Reznikoff last week. "We will go into the specifics in the coming days and weeks," Naď announced, adding that this could bring significant investment to Slovakia.

Thus, the country may assist Ukraine in supplying both 155 mm and 152 mm ammunition. Slovakia is one of only three countries in the world among those supporting Ukraine which produces 152 millimetre ammunition.

Slovakia has sold seven Zuzana 2 howitzers to Ukraine and their deployment in fierce fighting allowed them to fine-tune some shortcomings. "You can carry out any military testing, but a test directly in combat operations is irreplaceable," Nad explained. He also confirmed that so far one howitzer had been destroyed out of a total of eight units delivered.
