Government to address electricity prices for households

Electricity prices for households should not increase next year either. It follows from the document on the general economic interest in ensuring the safety, regularity, quality and price of electricity supply to households in Slovakia in 2024, which is to be discussed by the government on Tuesday. In line with the document, power utility Slovenske Elektrarne should supply 6.15 terawatthours (TWh) of electricity to households at €61.2077 per megawatthour (MWh). Several health-care related points have been included on the session's agenda as well. Local governments should receive their entire share of this year's corporate income tax by the end of April. Municipalities should thus gain €171 million and regional authorities €73.3 million. This stems from a draft amendment to the law on the distribution of income tax revenues to local governments, which will be discussed by the Government. The Cabinet will also decide whether to withdraw Martin Klus's nomination as Slovakia's candidate for the post of an auditor at the European Court of Auditors (ECA). The reason is that Klus has asked the Government to withdraw his nomination.
