Terms for recognising the education of Ukrainian paediatricians in Slovakia will be simplified. An aptitude test is being introduced for them, interim Premier Eduard Heger, who has also been tasked with managing the Health Ministry, told a news conference on Tuesday.
"They will be able to take the aptitude test in Ukrainian or Russian," said Heger, adding that the first one will be held in April. After passing it, their certificate of education will be recognised, enabling paediatricians to work for a maximum of 18 months within a temporary professional internship. After this exam, doctors can take a supplementary exam in the Slovak language. "As a result of it, their general practitioner degree will be valid throughout the European Union," said Heger.
Elena Prokopova, the Health Ministry's chief expert in general care for children and adolescents, called on Ukrainian doctors to have their education recognised.
Health Ministry's State Secretary Michal Palkovic said that the programme has been set so that it will be available to other specialisations as well.
