The first delivered Leopard 2A4 tank is currently being tested at the Military Technical and Test Institute in Záhorie. Slovakia received it from Germany as a replacement for the infantry fighting vehicles (BVP-1) donated to Ukraine. TASR was informed about this by Martina Kakaščíková, spokeswoman of the Ministry of Defence of the Slovak Republic. The spokeswoman claimed that the tests haven't revealed any shortcomings so far. The trials are set to last until March 31. Tests for verification of selected tactical-technical parameters are carried out on the basis of the need to introduce the Leopard 2A4 main battle tank and ammunition into the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic. A total of 15 Leopard 2A4 tanks will be delivered to them during this year. The tank that is currently undergoing the trials was shipped to the country in December last year. In 2023 to 2025, Germany should also provide Slovakia with tank ammunition, spare parts, logistics support and crew training.
