"I'm Quite Crazy" - that's the inscription on T-shirts worn by fifteen graduates from Slovak and foreign universities who have decided to teach children from problematic Roma areas in eastern Slovakia and who were received by President Andrej Kiska on Friday.
The project is carried out within the 'Teach for All' international initiative, which is already running in more than 30 countries. Slovakia has become the first country from the Visegrad Four group (Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary) to gain a licence to carry out the project. Kiska at the meeting praised members of the team for realising that they've got a lot from life and view it as their duty to help others. Teach for Slovakia project director Stanislav Boledovič stated that they want to change especially two things: the quality of education in Slovakia and personal engagement of people in the country. He said that he's unhappy with the fact that according to the PISA international study, 27 percent of pupils in Slovakia are leaving primary schools without the skills that are necessary to succeed in life.
