The telemetry collars that the State Nature Protection purchased for monitoring the possible movement of bears in the vicinity of municipalities will also bring new information about their behaviour, the authority informed on Thursday. The data that the conservationists lack today will also be used by zoologists. To monitor bears, State Nature Protection purchased ten pieces of telemetry collars via an Environment Fund project; the price for one piece was €5,200. According to conservationists, the collars cannot be compared with commonly available models because of the special functions they have.
