Czech President aims to demonstrate closeness to Slovakia partly via joint foreign visits

Czech President Petr Pavel wants to demonstrate the above-average level of cooperation between his own country and Slovakia partly by engaging in joint foreign visits to third countries, and details of such a plan were discussed during his visit to Slovakia, TASR learnt on Tuesday.
"This means that we wouldn't only behave in an economical manner; it would also make it clear that the cooperation between our two countries really is above-average," Pavel declared at a press briefing.
As this was his first visit to Slovakia, the fulcrum of the talks weren't specific events or dates but efforts to set up a framework and climate of cooperation. According to Pavel, these goals were met with success.
The talks revolved about the upcoming Slovak parliamentary election, aid for Ukraine and potential avenues of collaboration. "For instance, in searching for ways to face disinformation campaigns, to firm up our cooperation in our defence sectors and to foment broader contacts with Ukraine for the period of the post-war Ukrainian recovery," he said.
During his first visit to Slovakia, the new Czech President met the three top constitutional officials: President Zuzana Caputova, interim Prime Minister Eduard Heger and House Chair Boris Kollar (Sme Rodina).
