Mandatory five-day home quarantine for individuals who test positive for COVID-19 will be scrapped as of Monday (March 20), according to a new directive released by the Public Health Office on Tuesday.
"The disease currently doesn't warrant mandatory quarantine in light of the presently circulating variants of SARS-CoV-2 and the proportion of people who have either recovered from COVID-19 and/or have been completely vaccinated. Hence, COVID-19 has joined the level of other acute respiratory illnesses, against which people can protect themselves on their own, with a view towards their own health and the protection of vulnerable groups," declared chief hygienist Jan Mikas.
