The Slavkov format countries (S3) have traditionally held close positions on Ukraine, said Slovak Speaker of Parliament Boris Kollár after meeting his counterparts from this formation Czech Markéta Adamová Pekarova and Austrian Wolfgang Sobotka. The trio met on the weekend in the High Tatra Mountains, Slovakia within the framework of Slovakia's leadership in the S3 format. "A united position of our countries is the best response towards the aggressor. It is essential that peacemaking is effective, fair and lasting. It is important that this solution comes in the shortest possible time, but with the interests of Ukraine in mind," noted Kollár.
In addition to the situation in Ukraine, the main topics include illegal migration, energy and energy security, and alternative energy sources, and support for the integration of the Western Balkan countries into the structures of the European Union. As last year saw a shift in the long-standing stagnation in the launch of accession negotiations with North Macedonia and Albania, and both countries have reached this milestone, the S3 parliamentary presidents believe it is necessary to look at further ways to support these countries in their Euro-integration ambitions.
