Dutch royal couple ending visit to Slovakia in the Tatras

Dutch King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima concluded their three-day visit to Slovakia on Thursday with stops in Poprad, Liptovsky Mikulas and the Tatra National Park. The Dutch royal couple arrived in Slovakia on Tuesday. The main topics of their visit have been the rule of law and climate protection, including the transition to a circular economy, as well as the promotion of inclusion and diversity in society. According to President Zuzana Caputova, Slovakia has inspired the Netherlands in the field of collecting used PET bottles and cans, and it would like to implement Slovakia's system at home. Moreover, a Slovak company could supply the system for the Dutch. According to the president, the system is among the most innovative of this kind in the EU, as it utilizes advanced software technology. During the visit, President Zuzana Caputova received the highest Dutch state decoration - the Order of the Netherlands Lion, which was bestowed upon her by King Willem-Alexander. She reciprocally awarded the king and queen the Order of the Double White Cross for their outstanding contribution to the all-round development of ties between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Slovak Republic.
