Defence Minister Jaroslav Nad recently took part in an informal meeting of the EU Council for Foreign Affairs in Stockholm in the format of defence ministers. Together with his counterparts, they addressed Russia's war against Ukraine and the possibilities for supporting the Ukrainian armed forces as well as streamlining the off-budget intergovernmental monetary instrument through which refunds are provided to countries helping Ukraine. According to Nad, ensuring peace in Ukraine is not possible without European help. He also pointed out that the costs associated with the aid provided to our eastern neighbour are compensated via the funds from the European Peace Facility, from which Slovakia has already received more than €82 million. These funds will be used to purchase ammunition and new technologies for the Slovak Armed Forces.
