Slovakia Sending 6.5 Tonnes of Humanitarian Aid to Syria

Slovakia will send 6.5 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Syria on Wednesday (March 1), comprised of food, hygiene products and civil protection material, Interior Ministry spokesperson Zuzana Eliasova has told TASR.
"The Interior Ministry's aviation department will also carry blankets, sleeping bags and pillows, as well as medical supplies, such as gloves, suits, covers, bandages, first-aid kits and plasters to Syria," said acting Interior Minister Roman Mikulec (OLANO).
The humanitarian aid for people in Syria who lost their homes during the powerful earthquake in early February will be transported by plane to the airport in Beirut. With regards to the persisting state of war in Syria, the cargo will be transported to the final destinations by a ground route via the European Commission's Humanitarian Aid Office after coordination with the Syrian Arab Crescent, said Eliasova.
