Over 10 000 pupils from Ukraine in Slovak schools

A total of 10,550 pupils from Ukraine attend Slovak schools, according to data by the Education Ministry. The highest number of pupils (more than 7,150) attend elementary schools. The highest portion of Ukrainian pupils attend schools in the Bratislava region (2,319), while elementary schools in other regions are attended by less than 1,000 Ukrainian students. The lowest number of Ukrainian pupils study at elementary schools in the Banska Bystrica region. Slovak nursery schools are attended by 1,778 children from Ukraine. The highest number of them was reported in the Bratislava region (529), while the lowest number is in the Banska Bystrica region (134). Grammar schools are attended by up to 500 students from Ukraine, with the highest number of them attending schools in Bratislava region (168) and the lowest number in Trnava region (31). Secondary vocational schools are attended by 859 Ukrainians. Their number ranges between 44 in the Banska Bystrica region and 267 in the Bratislava region. In general, the largest number of Ukrainian students attended schools in the Bratislava region in late January (3,375). Conversely, the lowest number of Ukrainian pupils studied in the Banska Bystrica region (703).
