Slovakia's military representation in EU and NATO bodies should be expanded from 94 to 107 members of the armed forces in 2023, according to materials approved by the Government on Wednesday.
"This update of military representation is proposed in response to changes in the global security environment, reflecting the needs of the Slovak Republic in the process of implementing transformational changes, existing international commitments to NATO and EU allies and bilateral agreements with partners," explained the Defence Ministry as the sponsor of the motion.
If approved by Parliament, further military representatives could be stationed, for instance, at the Joint Support and Enabling Command in Ulm, Germany, at the US Joint Special Operations University in Tampa, and at Special Operations Command Europe in Baumholder, Germany.
