Slovakia has sent a financial contribution of €37,000 to Syria to set up a temporary camp for people affected by the recent devastating earthquake that killed thousands, the Foreign Affairs Ministry has reported. The situation in the north-west of the country almost a month after the disaster is critical, and the humanitarian needs of those affected are massive, according to Slovak Ambassador to Lebanon Marek Varga.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry noted that it continues to cooperate with the Interior Ministry and other central government bodies, as well as with the non-governmental and private sectors, and that it is preparing a large-scale shipment of material humanitarian aid to Syria. The aid should be dispatched from Slovakia in the next few days.
