The unquestionable significance of the Slovak Constitutional Court and its irreplaceable role in the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms in a state governed by the rule of law is what speakers highlighted during the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of this institution. The event took place on Wednesday with the acting Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger, acting Justice Minister Viliam Karas, Supreme Court President, Ján Šikut, Supreme Administrative Court President Pavol Naď, the Slovak Constitutional Court President Ivan Fiačan and his Czech counterpart Pavel Rychetský.
The Constitutional Court is an independent judicial body to protect constitutionality in Slovakia. It is composed of 13 judges appointed by the president based on the proposal of parliament for 12 years. As part of the celebrations, a book entitled 'Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic (1993 - 2023) - Constitutional Judiciary in Changes of Time' was published.
