Eva Siracka, a doctor, founder and president of the League Against Cancer NGO died at the age of 96 on Tuesday morning, the NGO has announced via their social networks. "She was one of those rare people whose life was meaningful, worth following and inspiring for many. We thank you on behalf of us, cancer patients and the entire public for the opportunity to enjoy the harvest of what she has started with love," reads the post. Eva Siracka also founded the Slovak Society for Radiology, Radiobiology and Physics. She was a member of the committees of several professional national and international societies in the field of radiology and oncology. In 1990, she founded the well-known non-profit organisation League Against Cancer, which made Czechoslovakia one of the first countries from the former socialist bloc to have such an organisation. Under her leadership, the League became a member of the European Association of Leagues Against Cancer and the world's largest organisation, the International Union Against Cancer.
