V4 countries have different views on the solution to the war in Ukraine

The Visegrad Four (V4) countries (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia) agree that the Russian aggression is unacceptable, however, their views differ on how the conflict should be ended, head of the Slovak foreign affairs committee Marian Kery said following a meeting with his V4 counterparts in Bratislava on Monday. "It's natural that four states can't have the same views on everything, but it's important that we have a basis for cooperation. Many topics affect us all. We have the same views on the events that are happening in Ukraine - the Russian Federation is the aggressor. Of course there are different opinions on solutions and ways to end this conflict," said Kery. According to the chairman of the Hungarian parliamentary foreign affairs committee Zsolt Nemeth, the V4 countries unanimously support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and will express their solidarity in that direction. He confirmed that they have different opinions on how to address the conflict. Czech Senate Vice-Chair Tomas Czernin expressed concern about Hungary's attitude, stressing that Ukraine is fighting for the entire European Union. All participants agreed that the cooperation of the V4 countries is important. According to them, the negotiations offer the possibility of finding common positions and solutions in international issues, but also a space for discussing different opinions.
