“Slovakia wouldn't be the first NATO-member country to donate jet fighters to Ukraine”, interim Defence Minister Jaroslav Nad stated following the end of a two-day meeting of NATO defence ministers in Brussels. According to Nad, the talks in Brussels confirmed that some countries have already provided either fighter aircraft or related spare parts to Kyiv. According to the parliamentary opposition and some legal experts, the interim government does not have the mandate for such strategic decisions. In this regard, the interim Justice Minister Viliam Karas said on Wednesday that he sees no reason to amend the Constitution in regards to Slovakia's potential donation of MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine. The minister at the same time said that he would not comment on the matter any further, as he has stated his opinion to the premier and the Defence Ministry and it is not his task to communicate the issue with the public. An extraordinary session regarding the MiG-29 jet fighters was scheduled for Thursday afternoon. The meeting was initiated by the opposition Smer-SD party.
