Kacer signs protocol on cooperation with his Georgian counterpart

Interim Foreign Affairs Minister Rastislav Kacer and his Georgian counterpart Ilia Darchiashvili signed an inter-ministerial protocol on political consultations and mutual cooperation, doing so on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the setting up of diplomatic relations, TASR was told by the ministry's press department on Tuesday.

They also discussed the development of bilateral cooperation, the consequences of Russian aggression against Ukraine, the European and security agenda, as well as the situation in the South Caucasus region.
"We have very good relations with Georgia, and I'm pleased with the mutual interest in their further deepening. The signing of the protocol, which foresees regular consultations, is proof of that," said Kacer. He is convinced that this will be an impetus for the expansion of cooperation between the ministries.
According to Kacer, Slovakia fundamentally supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognised borders. He told his Georgian counterpart that he welcomes their condemnation of the Russian invasion and respects their decision not to join the European Union sanctions. However, Kacer expects that Georgia will actively prevent attempts to bypass them. (TASR)
