The Sme rodina party would support the proposal to change the date of early elections if one of its former coalition partners - OĽaNO or SaS - wished to do so. The party's leader and parliamentary speaker, Boris Kollár stated on Monday. Neither OLaNO nor SaS will allow any discussion about a new date of a snap election, however. In their statements for TASR they've agreed that the date has already been determined. Kollar emphasised that one of the former coalition partners would have to come up with a June election. "I refuse to have a show in Parliament every week with the opposition asking for 30 signatures, and here giving a May, there an April, and there a June date without support from 90 MPs," he stressed, pointing out that a June election would be ideal for Sme rodina'. A majority in Parliament could be found only for a September date, however. Meanwhile, Smer-SD vice-chair Richard Takac has called on representatives of both the toppled coalition and opposition to hold talks on approving a snap general election term in June, claiming that his party is willing to support a resolution that would cancel Parliament's previous decision to hold a snap election on September 30. Ex-premier, Independent MP and head of the extra-parliamentary Hlas-SD party Peter Pellegrini stated in reaction that he and the MPs around him will support any resolution proposing a snap election term before September.
