Charity sends €200,000 to help Turkey and Syria

Slovak Catholic Charity (SCC) is sending 200,000 euros from a national collection to help Turkey and Syria, which were hit by devastating earthquakes. People can continue to send donations through the charity's website or public collection account. Monika Molnárová, spokeswoman of SKCH, informed TASR. According to the charity, we are once again witnessing a tremendous display of human solidarity, which is indicated not only by the amount of donations collected, but also by the speed with which people were able to mobilise. The funds raised from the collection will be used to provide humanitarian assistance to the most affected families and individuals through our partners in the Syriac Cross region and the Shingala Azad organisation. They will begin distributing food and hygiene packages in several areas in the coming days. A magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck the area around the Turkish-Syrian border last week. The disaster has already claimed more than 37,500 victims in both countries.
