As of Wednesday (February 15), families in Slovakia will start receiving a significantly increased allowance per child worth €60 per month, said Labour Minister Milan Krajniak at a joint press conference with Parliamentary Chair Boris Kollar on Monday. The higher allowances, which form part of the family package that was approved last year, concern more than 1.1 million children. The minister also highlighted that, while four years ago the state allocated €328 million for child benefits, this year the figure is as much as €778 million. "It's a completely fundamental increase in support for families. As the labour, social affairs and the family minister, I'm proud that, as Sme rodina party, we're able to participate in such a massive increase in support for families," stated Krajniak.
