By the end of 2022, the European Commission (EC) had 70 treaty infringement proceedings against Slovakia, indicates the annual report on Slovakia's EU membership for 2022. The cases were mainly related to the incorrect transposition or application of legally binding EU acts. According to the Slovak foreign and European Affairs Ministry, 31 of the total number of proceedings were conducted due to the non-notification of transposition measures to the directives, 13 due to incorrect transposition of the directives. A further 14 were for incorrect application of EU law and 12 were for other reasons. Compared to the end of 2021, there were four more proceedings against Slovakia. "Despite a slight increase in the number of proceedings, Slovakia has long been one of the countries with a lower number of infringement proceedings under Articles 258-260 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU," the ministry noted.
