37% of Slovaks willing to go abroad for work

37 percent of Slovaks would be willing to move abroad for work, said Kariera.sk website's communications and PR manager Katarína Tešla. She added that another group consists of people willing to travel for work within Slovakia - 18 percent. Roughly a third of people are not willing to commute for work outside the region in which they live, and 10 percent of respondents are satisfied with their current job, in which they don't have to commute.

The average salary in Slovakia is €1,347. In the rest of Europe, however, job seekers can get much better pay, said the company, adding that, for example, in the Czech Republic, the salaries in adverts amount to €1,828. In Austria, the average salary in job offers is at the level of €2,443, in Germany it is €2,974. The Netherlands offers an average salary of €3,688, and in England, some job positions give €4,000 a month.

Tešla added that Eurostat published the average salaries in the countries of the European Union (EU) for the year before last. According to Tešla, the average annual salary of all countries was €33,511 euros, which means €2,793 per month.

Among EU member states, Luxembourg had the highest average annual full-time salary, namely €72,247 a year or approximately €6,021 per month. At the bottom of the ranking is Bulgaria with an average annual salary of €10,345 or €862 per month. Slovakia ended up 22nd, that is sixth from the end, with an average annual salary at €16,162 a year or €1,347 per month.
