Employees of Košice city transport company to go on strike on Tuesday

Trade unionists of the Košice city transport company (DPMK) declared a strike in the company on Tuesday (February 14), DPMK trade union chair Andrea Vindišová announced. Public city transport will be completely limited on that day. Only buses to the city's two hospitals, the U.S. Steel company and a school in the district of Vyšné Opátske will be served.

DPMK trade unions announced a vstrike alert on January 10. Subsequently, a public meeting of the parties involved was held on January 17. At that time, company employees agreed to go on strike. "We apologise in advance to city residents and the entire public for a potential inconvenience, but this is the only way to point out that it's impossible to operate city transport without money," stated Vindisova and Ivan Horvath, the chairman of drivers' trade union organisation in DPMK.

The strike is unlimited in terms of time and voluntary. All employees of the joint-stock company, regardless of their post in DPMK, can join it.
