Modrá koalícia to hold talks with KDH

Representatives of the Modrá koalícia project are due to meet the extra-parliamentary Christian Democrats (KDH) regarding programme priorities and a value framework in the upcoming weeks, said Independent MP and Modrá koalícia leader Miroslav Kollár. He stated that everyone belonging to non-populist pro-European forces is currently holding talks with everyone else, apart from the extra-parliamentary Progressive Slovakia (PS) and Sloboda a Solidarita (SaS) party, which have announced their intention to go into the early general election independently.

"Last week we met the KDH leadership, and the result was that we'll continue the debates. Next, we're supposed to meet over the issue of the two parties' programme priorities and value frameworks in a couple of weeks," stated Kollár. KDH said last week that it is preparing to run on its own in the election. It expects the Modrá koalícia to present its programme theses, value framework and personnel structure. Kollár said that as the election will be held in September, there are still several weeks available for debates and positional manoeuvres before concrete agreements are reached on who will go into the elections with whom.

The Modrá koalícia has also met the extra-parliamentary Dobrá voľba a Umiernení party. Their condition for a merger is forming a government without OĽaNO or Smer-SD, which is acceptable for Kollár. According to him, the issue of the chairman of the Modrá koalícia has not been discussed yet. "It will depend with whom we eventually agree on a joint political future at the congress," he said. In addition to Kollár, the other face of the project is former two-time PM Mikuláš Dzurinda.
