Germany will supply Slovakia with two sets of the Mantis air defence system, the Slovak Defence Ministry informed on Thursday. The system will strengthen the protection of the eastern border with Ukraine provided by the forces and resources of the Slovak Armed Forces. Slovakia will receive the systems free of charge and permanently. According to the ministry, each of the two systems consists of up to eight automatic weapon stations, two radar stations and a command post. The package from Germany also includes an overview radar with a range of up to 100 kilometres and training.
The Mantis air defence system is a stationary, fully automated weapon system, which is intended for the continuous defence of ground objects (for example, military bases) against attack by missiles, artillery systems, mortars and unmanned vehicles.
