King Willem Alexander of the Netherlands is scheduled to visit Slovakia on March 7-9 at the invitation of President Zuzana Caputova, the King's Office said on Thursday.
The king will be accompanied by his wife, Queen Máxima, Foreign Affairs Minister Wopke Hoekstra and State Secretary for Culture and Media Gunay Uslu.
The Dutch king plans to lay a wreath at the Gate of Freedom monument under Devin Castle in Bratislava as well as the monument to murdered journalist Jan Kuciak and his fiancée Martina Kusnirova in Bratislava.
The second day of the Dutch king's visit to Slovakia falls on International Women's Day, and on this occasion the Dutch monarch will meet young Slovaks, with whom he will discuss gender equality and the strengthening of the status of women.
Later, the king will meet Parliamentary Chair Boris Kollar (We Are Family) and will participate in an economic forum. Several agreements on cooperation between companies and organisations from both countries are expected to be concluded.
The king of the Netherlands will also visit the gay bar in the centre of Bratislava where an attacker shot dead two people last October.
Finally, the Dutch royal couple will visit the High Tatra mountains area, including the centre for Ukrainian refugees in Poprad, eastern Slovakia.
