European Commission approves Slovakia's second payment request

The European Commission approved Slovakia's second request for payment from the recovery and resilience plan. Interim Prime Minister Eduard Heger informed about it on a social network on Wednesday. "We continue to be among the top countries in Europe and we're the sixth state for whom the commission approved the second payment, thanks to which we can receive €815 million from the EU," he said, pointing out that Slovakia also met 16 other milestones. "Until now, we've opened around 50 calls worth more than €1.3 billion. Local governments, entrepreneurs as well as citizens can benefit from them," wrote Heger. He also added that 18 direct calls for more than €430 million were also launched. The European Commission approved on Wednesday two positive preliminary assessments of the Czech Republic's and Slovakia's requests for payments under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), which is a key tool of the Next Generation EU (NGEU) post-coronavirus recovery plan. In the case of Slovakia, at stake is an amount of €709 million in the form of grants.
