The 17th annual Japanese film festival, screening four contemporary Japanese movies, will begin in Kosice's Usmev cinema at 5pm on Wednesday and is set to move to Bratislava next week, Zuzana Ondrejkova Zelinska of the Japanese Embassy in Bratislava has told TASR. The festival will open with a family comedy about a single woman called 'The Obento I Hate'. Also on the programme are a film based on the novel 'Seeking a Cat' and dramas 'The Takacu River' and 'Caviar with Spice'. The festival will remain in Kosice until Thursday (February 9), and it will also be held in Bratislava's Mladost cinema between February 16 and 19. All the movies will be screened in Japanese, with both English and Slovak subtitles. Entrance is free of charge. "We're organising the festival as part of our activities and efforts aimed at deepening interest in Japan and understanding of its culture among Slovaks," added the Japanese Embassy in Slovakia, which organises the festival in cooperation with the Japan Foundation.
