Interim Prime Minister Eduard Heger has called on members of the former, toppled coalition not to question their existing agreement on September 30 as the term of a snap general election, calling the term a compromise. "I don't understand political leaders, why are they questioning agreements and causing another circus? Maybe some of them have a lot of time on their hands to think as they aren't directly responsible for the country," remarked the premier on his Facebook account.
Sloboda a solidarita party (SaS) will support holding the snap general election in September unless the parties of the former coalition agree on another date, SaS leader Richard Sulik claimed on Monday. "SaS will vote as we've agreed and as we've promised. We'll vote for a snap election in September," claimed Sulik. At the same time, Sulik rejected claims that it was SaS that proposed holding the election in September. Parliamentary Chair and Sme rodina leader Boris Kollar stated following his talks with Sloboda a solidarita (SaS) representatives, that a snap general election will probably take place in September as it's unlikely that 90 MPs would support an earlier term. At the same time, the Sme rodina leader confirmed that his party will honour the existing agreement between the parties of the former coalition on September 30 as the date of a snap election. He added, however, that Sme rodina MPs would also support earlier dates. The National Council of the Slovak Republic will vote on the date of the snap elections after 5 pm today.
