Responding to the demands of employers, the Labour, Social Affairs and the Family Centre has published a new list of occupations in short supply; for these jobs, companies can apply the fast-tracked employment mode for foreigners from third countries. Moreover, by amending the Employment Services Act, companies have been able to employ foreigners in these professions in all districts since the beginning of January. Slovakia has a long-term shortage of workers mainly in health care, the IT sector, and lorry transport.
