Slovak President Zuzana Caputova will be decorated next Tuesday in Berlin with the Schwarzkopf Europe Award in recognition of her courage in confronting organised crime, her promotion of the rights of minorities, particularly Roma, and an ecologically sustainable future, TASR learnt from Schwarzkopf Young Europe foundation on Thursday.
"She gives the whole of Europe hope that there is a future for tolerance, sustainability and community," claimed the foundation in its press release. "Her fight against corruption shows that an alternative to the corrupted and authoritarian elite exists. She has become a role model for the entire region," reads the text.
Caputova was given the award back in 2021, yet the ceremony was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The award ceremony on January 24 will be attended also by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who is slated to meet the President beforehand. (TASR)
