The so-called "golden week" is evaluated positively in the High Tatras. The Director of the Regional Tourism Organization (OOCR) of the Vysoké Tatry Region, Lucia Blašková, stated that this results from the assessment of entrepreneurs and hoteliers, according to whom the Christmas holidays were successful. "The hotels were sold out, or had really high occupancy.
The High Tatras were also visually full of both overnight and one-day visitors. Most of them came after Christmas before New Year's Eve, after the New Year's weekend their numbers decreased, mostly foreign guests left. We can definitively assess that occupancy was higher than last year, when there were still restrictions related to the pandemic," Blašková assessed. According to her, the attendance in the Tatra ski resorts during the holidays was slightly higher than expected, also thanks to the noticeably higher number of foot tourists. Due to the absence of snow in the lower elevations, visitors to the Tatras looked for locations where they could experience the feeling of a winter vacation. "They found such an atmosphere, for example, at Skalnat Pleso, Hrebienk and at Chata pod Soliskom, where we recorded higher footfalls," added Blašková, adding that ski resorts saw a drop in attendance by approximately 15 percent compared to more successful years.
