Gas consumption in Slovakia continues to drop

The Economy Ministry records a continuing drop in gas consumption during the 2022-23 heating season, with the real consumption in Slovakia decreasing by 15.12 percent in November in comparison to the five-year average values, Economy Ministry spokesperson Maria Pavlusik announced on Monday. The drop equalled 25.78 percent in October, 25.86 percent in September and 23.14 percent in August, according to the data collected by the SPP-Distribucia utility. The spokesperson added that by achieving these reductions, Slovakia continues to carry out directives of the European Council on the coordinated measures to cut down gas demand in the EU. According to Pavlusik, the reduced consumption could also be attributed to economic factors, the price of energy commodities and unusually warm weather.
