Police President would like to increase number of police officers

Slovak Police Corps President Štefan Hamran would like to strengthen the Police Force in terms of personnel. According to him, the number of police officers could be increased by hundreds of officers, up to almost two thousand. He would like to present the proposal material this week.

"In Europe, individual member states are gradually increasing numbers because every state is aware that internal security is extremely fragile," Hamran said, pointing to the need for prepared personnel. He stressed that people cannot be trained overnight. "The Slovak Republic should also respond to this situation. Based on previous discussions, I think that it will," he outlined. There are currently about 21,000 police officers in Slovakia.
