Private Bory Hospital built in Bratislava's borough of Lamac has received an operating permit from the Bratislava self-governing region, Svet Zdravia (World of Health) hospital network spokesperson Jana Fedakova told TASR on Wednesday, adding that based on this, the hospital wants to initiate further negotiations with state-run health insurer VsZP on contracting. "We've become a general hospital this week, a health-care provider, which makes us very happy and means another important step towards opening the hospital for patients," said hospital's general director Lubos Lopatka. The hospital will first open its outpatient clinics in March, as well as a radio-diagnostic department and a radiation oncology and nuclear medicine department. The hospital will have 405 beds, 16 operating theatres and a new-generation casualty department with a heliport. It should employ over 1,500 people. Bory Hospital obtained a construction permit in July 2018, and the building work began in August of that year. Investment in the private hospital amounted to some €240 million.
