Only 42% of people know exactly when independent Slovakia was founded (day, month and year), according to a survey conducted by the AKO agency. 20.1% of the respondents gave an incorrect figure. The remaining 37.9% of respondents could not answer the question.
Those, who were able to correctly identify the date of the establishment of the current Slovak Republic more often than average were:
- men
- younger people (up to 49 years old) - the proportion of correct answers decreases with age
- more educated people - the proportion of those who gave the correct answer increases with increasing education
- especially inhabitants of the Bratislava and Trenčín regions
- inhabitants of Slovak nationality
- especially voters of the parties PS, KDH, SaS, Republika.
The agency conducted the survey on a sample of 1,000 people from 6 to 12 December 2022 for the TV JOJ.
