38 percent of the adult population is satisfied with the functioning of democracy in Slovakia. On the contrary, 57 percent declare dissatisfaction. This follows from a survey by the agency Median, which was conducted from December 11 to 20 on a sample of 1,001 respondents. "Younger respondents aged 30 to 39, people with university education, or residents of the Bratislava, Trnava and Nitra Regions are more often satisfied. The survey also showed that 52 percent of Slovak residents consider the current regime in Slovakia to be democratic. "It is more often the case with younger generations between the ages of 18 and 39, people with primary or higher education, residents of the Bratislava and Trnava regions or people with the highest incomes," added the agency. On the contrary, 42 percent of respondents consider the current regime in Slovakia undemocratic. According to the survey, among the basic human rights and freedoms, the right to life, personal freedom or freedom of thought, conscience, religion and belief, and freedom of movement are the most important for the inhabitants of the Slovak Republic. For Slovaks, the most important basic political rights are freedom of expression and the right to information, the right to participate in the administration of public affairs directly or by freely choosing representatives, and the right to assemble.
