Unemployment rate down November

The registered unemployment rate in Slovakia amounted to 5.83 percent in November 2022, down by 0.07 percentage points (p.p.) from October, the Labour, Social Affairs and the Family Ministry reported on Tuesday. For comparison, the unemployment rate stood at 6.64 percent in November 2021.
The share of jobseekers in productive age able to start work immediately amounted to 4.32 percent in November. "Unemployment decreased in November as well. What pleases me even more is that the number of those working is constantly increasing. Employment hit its high since December 2019, which means we've got to the pre-crisis level in terms of the number of employed. This confirms that the Slovak labour market works well," stated acting Labour Minister Milan Krajniak (Sme Rodina).
The number of unemployed dropped in almost all regions of Slovakia in November, except for Banska Bystrica. Trnava showed the most significant decrease (0.12 p.p.) in unemployment.
The total number of job-seekers reached 158,348 in November (down from 160,266 in October 2022 and 179,578 in November 2021).
The number of job vacancies amounted to 81,909 in late November (compared to 82,888 in October). The highest number of available jobs was posted in Bratislava region (26,883) and the lowest in Kosice region (3,334). (TASR)
