The Minister of Justice Award for significant contribution in the field of human rights was awarded to three organisations this year. On Monday, Minister Viliam Karas presented the award to the Mareena Civic Association, Slovak Scouting and the Association of Catholic Girl Guides and Scouts of Europe in Slovakia (Federation of Scouts). TASR was informed about this from the press department of the Ministry of Justice. "I am very pleased that today we were able to recognise youth organisations that are dedicated to young people, who are ready and were prepared to make a very prompt and quick decision when it was necessary to respond to the situation that arose with the incoming refugees," Karas said. He appreciated the help of the organisations all the more because it was not a one-off, but long-term. The Justice Minister's Award is given each year to experts or civil activists working in the field of human rights promotion. It is also awarded to ordinary people who have been victims of human rights violations and have contributed to raising awareness of the importance of human rights in the Slovak Republic through their stories.
