Construction of the Turany-Hubová stretch (in Žilina region) will definitely not start in 2023, said acting Transport Minister Andrej Doležal. The stretch is the last section of the future D1 motorway between Bratislava and Košice, whose construction has not started yet. According to Doležal, the exact date when this could happen depends on the progress of individual processes and the public procurement of the contractor itself. He explained that the National Highway Company (NDS) is currently ensuring the so-called water Environmental Impact Assessment process (EIA). Based on it, it will be determined whether the construction as proposed, i.e. in the so-called tunnel variant (including the Korbelka and Havran tunnels), meets the provisions of the Water Act.
