Regions and municipalities have no money to pay work bonuses

Regions and municipalities lack the resources to cover expenditures related to the newly approved employee bonuses for work carried out on holidays, weekends or at night, head of the Slovak Towns and Villages Association (ZMOS) Branislav Treger declared on Tuesday.

ZMOS pointed out that the way in which the bonuses were passed was unorthodox, and there was no opportunity to attach comments to it. ZMOS doesn't object to the right to higher pay for people who work overnight or on holidays or weekends, but the problem is that the municipalities and regions no longer have any resources to cover these additional expenditures.

"We have 35,000 employees in public administration to whom this policy applies. They are members of town and village police forces, companies dealing with technical services, waste disposal, social services, and, in particular, employees of public transport companies, especially in Bratislava and Kosice," underlined Treger, adding that Parliament approved a bill that lacked any impact assessment study.
