Employers leave tripartite session in protest

Representatives of employers left a session of the Social and Economic Council on Monday in protest against the approval of an amendment to the Labour Code and increasing bonuses for night and weekend shifts, the Labour Ministry has reported. The draft amendment omitted the adjustment of the minimum wage levels and instead of taking effect from 1 January 2023, it postponed the changes to 1 June 2023. Labour Minister Milan Krajniak considers the approved draft law after incorporating this amendment to be a compromise. Compared to the original opposition proposal, it reduces the cost to employers in 2023. According to the ministry, employers view the approval of the amendment by Parliament as a violation of the social dialogue. Krajniak noted in this regard that he's interested in resuming the talks, which is why he'll initiate a meeting between representatives of employers, Prime Minister Eduard Heger and several ministers.
