An operational unit to repair Ukrainian military equipment was officially launched on the premises of the Slovak army's military facility in Michalovce (Kosice region) on Monday, with both Slovak and German generals in attendance. Six German technicians will join the unit, repairing western-type military equipment, such as howitzers and anti-aircraft missile systems. The financing of the repairs is being provided by Germany, while Slovakia is providing the premises and access to electricity and water via its military. Defence Minister Jaroslav Nad highlighted that Slovakia is hereby confirming its unwavering stance of supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russia's aggression, as the repair of damaged military equipment is a key element. "Slovakia is using its strategic location and available premises, thereby providing further aid to its neighbour and at the same time deepening its bilateral cooperation with Germany," he said. The repairs are an opportunity to deepen relations in terms of repairs of equipment produced by German companies, such as Leopard tanks, the 2A4 version of which will be gradually supplied to Slovakia, explained Nad. The operational unit to repair Ukrainian military equipment in Michalovce has been set up based on a memorandum of understanding with the German Defence Ministry.
